Move over David Attenborough! Our intrepid natural scientists had their hands full at the Alan Shearer Centre when a menagerie of molluscs, mammals and more came to visit!

Centre members enjoyed getting to know some new furry, crawly and tickly friends when the Scales 'n' Tails Animal Encounters - Zoo that comes to you dropped by with a range of spiders, snail and stick insects to meet.

On hand were some unusual creatures such as a giant African snail, some millipedes and a tarantula as well as Sherman the tortoise and Mash the guinea pig, who apparently enjoyed all of her cuddles!

Mum, Sarah Smith-Voysey, commented via Facebook: "It was BRILLIANT! Thank you to all who organised it, great range and choice of animals and the lady was absolutely brilliant with my children. Really fab event."

This free animal encounter experience was part of the Alan Shearer Centre's summer activities programme. For more information on our upcoming events contact the Centre's reception on 0191 2678118.
