Come to us for a break away

Ten pin bowling

There has been something for everyone having a short break at the Alan Shearer Centre recently.

Seaside treats, cultural visits and sporty pursuits have all been included on the leisure itinerary for guests staying at the Short Break Centre.

"While the Centre has its own in-house activities and facilities, it's great for guests to come out and about with us to enjoy local attractions too," says the Alan Shearer Centre Services Manager, Jackie Dunn.

The action packed agenda has included a trip to South Shields to visit the amusements and arcades. There have been ten-pin bowling contests at the MetroCentre and an excursion to the Discovery Museum along with duck feeding at Leazes Park in Newcastle.

Children staying this week have had fun at Pets Corner at Jesmond Dene before a trip around nearby Paddy Freeman's Park for refreshments.

And, because it's right on the Centre's doorstep, there is always the opportunity for an afternoon out to the Tyne Riverside Country Park at Newburn to see what's happening on the river.
