Want to dance?  Just Jhoom at the Activity Centre

April 2013

Jhoom instructor Emma Leigh

Just Jhoom was 'just great!' according to the children and parents who took part in our latest free event at the Activity Centre.

Bumbling bees, fans and lotus flowers were among the hand movements everyone had fun creating as part of the Eastern-themed dance session, which encouraged the youngsters to twirl flags, jangle bracelets or simply enjoy moving to the rhythm of the lively music.

The creative hand movements were also included in their own short stories which they made up together in small groups before joining together again for an imaginative walk in the jungle, becoming giraffes, alligators and tigers.

"Everyone had a wonderful time," said Jackie Dunn, Manager of the Alan Shearer Centre. "The instructor did an excellent job, ensuring that the session was suitable for all ages and abilities, even for our members with limited mobility".

We are hoping to arrange more of these special activity sessions, and would love to hear your ideas about any special activities you would like to see at the Centre. You can let us know your ideas on our Facebook page, or by calling Manager Jackie Dunn on 0191 267 8118 or email jackie.dunn@alanshearercentre.org.uk.
