Refit in time for Christmas

03 December 2014

ASC Sensory Cave

We are decking the halls, not only with boughs of holly, but also with new sensory equipment at the Alan Shearer Centre this December.

While a couple of the sensory rooms and the sound and music room will be unavailable for use at times, it's generally "business as usual" during the improvements which are taking place this week. Our Live and Learn sessions for disabled adults will continue with some festive arts and crafts activities programmed while Browne's Café and the hydrotherapy pool also remain open.

The £100,000 refit is set to be completed within the week and includes the installation of new lighting, tactile designs and specialist equipment.

Thanks to funds raised with the help of Alan Shearer Foundation supporters this refurbishment will be followed next year with a refit of the hydrotherapy suite.

Meanwhile, our free special activities taking place this month include a gingerbread making session on Saturday 13 December, Christmas crafts on Monday 22 December and a return visit by popular ventriloquist act Eileen and Joe on Tuesday 23 December. For more information see our Free Winter Events leaflet or call the Centre on 0191 267 8118.
