Carolyn Lawson and Ant and Dec lolly

Guests at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre this weekend had an unexpected treat when St Cuthberts Care patrons, Ant and Dec, gave the charity free passes to their Takeaway arena show.

The pair donated a dozen tickets to their live performance of the TV show in Newcastle on Saturday afternoon for disabled people who use the Centre and their carers.

Activity Centre member, Carolyn Lawson put herself in the mood for the show by trying her luck on the Takeaway Super Computer when it visited West Denton's Morrison's supermarket last week. Carolyn won a consolation lollipop at the store but was overjoyed to be on Ant and Dec's guest list through the tickets donated to the Centre.

Alan Shearer Centre manager, Amanda Head, said: "It was a great show and, despite the delay starting the performance, everyone absolutely loved it. It was really amazing."

Delighted members commented after the show: "I had a good time," "It was fantastic!" and a carer said: "Thank you for giving Stephen this opportunity to see Ant and Dec."
