It's blooming lovely in our garden

Sean and Peter in the Alan Shearer Centre gardens

Gardeners at the Alan Shearer Centre have been working hard to keep the raised beds looking great for this week's predicted heatwave.

It's a fabulous time to visit the sensory garden where gardener, Sean Hudson, together with volunteer, Peter Watson, have been pruning and weeding, sowing and digging to keep the planters full of colourful, fragrant and tactile arrangements.

With the summer holidays fast approaching Alan Shearer Centre members and their families are being encouraged to visit our extensive gardens and are welcome to take a stroll around the grounds, wander in the woodland walk or play in the park. You can also enjoy our great outdoor area with some refreshments from Browne's café taken on the patio – if the weather stays nice!

Anyone who would like to help out with the gardening or at the Centre in a voluntary role should visit our volunteering website or contact Nicola Milne on 0191 228 0111 for more information on opportunities available across the charity.
