Cooking at the Alan Shearer Centre

Our Live and Learn cookery sessions are cooking up a storm!

The Alan Shearer Centre's very own culinary queen - Activity Co-ordinator, Karen Morgan - is reporting record numbers turning up for our disabled adults' cookery lessons.

"We had 14 people booked in yesterday and we had 11 today baking quiche at our Live and Learn cooking session," she said. "It's so popular I've been asked if we can do cooking on a Monday as well!"

So far this year dishes prepared have included lemon drizzle cake, shortbread biscuits and stir fry to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Regular cookery sessions for adults take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays but anyone who wishes to take part should book early so that enough ingredients can be bought in advance.
