The Alan Shearer Centre will be showcasing the facilities and care opportunities for families with a disabled child at an information day hosted by Newcastle City Council.

The Marketplace Drop-in Event takes place on Wednesday 2 April 2014 at Gosforth Civic Hall between 10am and 2pm when there will be information on activities, family support organisations and care providers, who will all be on hand to give advice.

"We want to show parents and carers of children and adults with disabilities what short break, respite care is available at the Alan Shearer Centre as well as our new, longer-term residential opportunities," said Alan Shearer Centre services manager, Jackie Dunn.

"Our unique, on-site sensory rooms and activity centre facilities, combined with our specialist care services offers our guests with complex disabilities a varied and fulfilling break and, importantly, gives carers peace of mind knowing that their loved-ones are being well looked after," added Jackie.
