New Year, new Live & Learn

06 January 2014

ASC Activities Coordinator Karen Morgan

The Alan Shearer Centre is celebrating the start of the New Year with a packed programme of Live & Learn sessions for adults beginning tomorrow (Tuesday 7 January).

Our new Activities Coordinator, Karen Morgan, is beginning 2014 with Scottish themed preparations to celebrate the poet Robbie Burns' birthday and some paper lantern making for the start of Chinese New Year in late January.

"We have an exciting programme planned for the beginning of the year," said Alan Shearer Centre Services Manager, Jackie Dunn. "We are planning some traditional Scottish fare and even a piper to celebrate Robbie Burns' birth, while Karen has some papier mache dragon-making sessions lined up before the Chinese New Year.

"We'll also be preparing some goodies and special romantic crafts in time for Valentine's Day and our disco on 14 February."

Live & Learn is a fun, educational and social series of events, classes and courses for adults with learning disabilities which include arts and crafts, hobbies and our ever-popular cookery sessions. Courses run from 10am – 12noon and 1pm - 3pm on Tuesdays and Fridays while Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons are dedicated cooking slots.

For more information about the sessions or to book your place contact the centre on 0191 267 8118.
