Quilts

The Alan Shearer Centre has taken delivery of a bale of handmade quilts to be given to the disabled children who use our facilities.

The blanket gifts were made as part of Project Linus, a nationwide scheme which provides gifts of quilts for disabled and disadvantaged children.

Delivering the package, North of Tyne coordinator, Agnes Thompson said: "This gift of Linus Quilts is specially made to comfort children who are sick … or in need of a hug for them to know that other people care."

Alan Shearer Centre manager Jackie Dunn said: "The quilts are lovely and will be appreciated by children staying at our Short Break Centre and could be used in our Activity Centre's sensory rooms too."

She added: "Thank you very much to all the local quilters who have put so much effort into making the blankets and thinking of the disabled children who use the centre for such kind and unique gifts."
