Browne's Café was transformed into the magical world of Summerland this weekend when touring company One Act Productions came by to perform.

Alan Shearer Centre members and guests were entertained by costume changes, balloon modelling and magic tricks as well as the traditional pantomime prerequisite - audience participation.

"There was a lot of singing, dancing and laughing," said recreation assistant, Libby Molloy, "I was worried I was going to get drenched with a cup of water but fortunately it was all part of a magic trick."

The free event, paid for by funding through the Alan Shearer Foundation, was just one of the events taking place at the Centre this summer. The next family activity is on Saturday 21 June when teddy bears, and their friends, are invited for a picnic. Call the Centre on 0191 267 8118 to find out more and book a place.
