Baking bear biccies

Making bicuits at the Alan Shearer Centre

Visitors have been cooking up some scrummy cookies at the Alan Shearer Centre this half term holiday.

Today children were invited to a teddy-shaped biscuit baking session, and worked up a bear- sized appetite by having fun in the ball pool while the cookies were cooking! There were puzzles and colouring projects on a teddy bear theme as well as finishing off the kitchen capers by decorating the completed biscuits.

This Friday's activities at the Centre will include more gastronomic delights as we serve up wormy spaghetti, glumtuous glob gobblers (meatballs) and Bruce Bogtrotters cake – all with Roald Dahl's story characters in mind.

"We'll have a 'guess the number of everlasting gobstoppers' contest and 'find the golden tickets' around the grounds with Willie Wonker bars as prizes," said Activities Coordinator, Karen Morgan. "As well as the competitions there will be face painting and crafts, including making finger puppets and masks," she added.

The event takes place at the Alan Shearer Centre on Friday 21 February between 11am and 3pm and is free. Call the Centre on 0191 267 8118 for more information and to book a place.
