Picnicking in the garden

It was the day that the teddy bears had their picnic at the Alan Shearer Centre!

Bears, and other stuffed animals, were invited to bring their friends to take part in games, hear stories and, of course, tuck in to some goodies out in the gardens at the centre on a sunny, summer Saturday.

Angela Jukes said her son, Joseph, had particularly enjoyed the day: "Joe loved the teddy bears' picnic, particularly the giant teddy. (The event was) very laid back, friendly and Joe was able to express himself freely. Brilliant!"

The picnic party included a bear hunt around the grounds, a lunch in the marquee and then everyone joined together in a parachute teddy jumble game!

Afterwards teds, and friends, were able to make the most of the Centre's free facilities. "Daniel loved the teddy bears' picnic," said his mum, Sue Rowley. "The hour in the white sensory room just finished the day off perfectly. Can't wait until our next visit."

This Saturday, 28 June, there will be some real, live furry creatures to see when the Scales and Tails zoo will be visiting the Centre. Book a free place now on 0191 267 8118 for the visit between noon and 1pm.
