Alan Shearer is swapping his football pitch punditry for a fairway forecast as he hosts the Foundation's annual charity's golf tournament this week.

It may be the start of a new premiership season but the football analyst is predicting a win on Friday for his four-man golf squad which comprises his former Newcastle teammate Rob Lee, ex-England cricketer John Morris and businessman Charlie Simpson.

"This is the fourth annual Golf Tournament I have hosted at Close House. It's a great way to raise money and awareness of my Foundation and the support it provides for disabled people in the North East," said Alan. "After losing out last year, I hope we can pull it back to regain the trophy my team won in 2012!"

Taking part in the competition for Close House members and their guests are 24 teams including members of the local business community Graham Wylie and Freddy Shepherd. Also competing is Feisal Nahaboo, the businessman who, last year, challenged Alan to a round of golf on 18 different courses and together raised £20,000 for the Foundation.
