Great North Recognition

St Cuthberts Care's staff and services have been publically recognised as being "great" in the nation!

In today's Journal (Thursday 26 June) the Alan Shearer Centre was listed as one of the newspaper's 100 reasons why it's great up North. The Centre is on the list because, the paper says, it is "judged one of the best respite facilities in the country".

Staff and standards of care at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre were acclaimed in the most recent Care Quality Commission report which includes a quote from a parent saying that the service "sets a benchmark that others should aim for".

Meanwhile, St Cuthberts Care's Fostering North East team member, Al Coates, has also been listed in a national directory of "people who, without thought of personal gain, give back and help others".

Al, together with his wife Paula, was included in the exclusive Independent on Sunday's Happy List 2014 (NOT the Rich List) as recommended by its readers. The Fostering North East worker was nominated for his efforts championing adoption and offering advice to those considering it.

Al is celebrating at a party in London tonight thrown by the newspaper for the 100 Happy List nominees including charity workers, volunteers and those who promote worthy causes from across the country.
