A group of young environmentalists have been giving a helping hand in the grounds of the Alan Shearer Centre.

Four pupils from St Cuthbert's High School in Newcastle have been working on the Centre's accessible woodland walk area, clearing the ground and tidying the bird hide shed.

Activity Centre manager, Amanda Head, said the volunteers from the Eco Team had been doing a great job. "This area is really in need of some attention. We hope that the boys might like to make this their own project and perhaps come back in September to help us convert the shed into a summerhouse or a place for snacks and refreshments maybe," she said.

There are a range of volunteer opportunities at the Alan Shearer Centre and across St Cuthberts Care's services: from gardening to office duties, supporting people in our care to fundraising.
