Activity Centre members at the Christmas lunch

There were lots of party poppers and no party poopers at the Alan Shearer Centre yesterday as they hosted their ever-popular Christmas lunch for adult members and carers.

The whole place was decked out in its Christmas best and so many of the Centre's regulars wanted to join the party that the celebrations flowed from Browne's Café and into the festive reception area.

“Everyone had a fabulous time,” said Recreation Assistant, Yvonne Leonard, “ and even a meal of turkey and all the trimmings couldn't slow them down when our Christmas Disco started.”

There were spot prizes for the best dancers and, when the party finally broke up, chocolates for everyone to take home.

Madiha and carer Maureen said it was “The most wonderful Christmas dinner we've ever had, from soup through to tea and chocs - we especially enjoyed Christmas pudding. Thanks a lot to everyone concerned and special thanks to cookie lady!”
