Scales and Tails visit

The tail end of our Easter events programme at the Alan Shearer Activity Centre included a return visit of some very popular furry friends!

Among the cuddly creatures brought to the Centre by the Scales 'n' Tails travelling animal menagerie during the school break was a cute chinchilla and a good-natured guinea pig.

Visitors also had the opportunity to have a close encounter with a giant cockroach, make the acquaintance of an unusual white hedgehog and meet a large African snail.

The event was the finale of a fortnight of free special activities at the Alan Shearer Centre for disabled members and their families to enjoy. As well as the usual free access to the gardens, ball pool and sensory rooms special holiday events included a falconry display, cookery sessions and even entertainment from Elvis!

The activity centre is now looking forward to some Bank Holiday fun on May 4 when it will be hosting a Pirates and Princesses Day, when everyone has the chance to dress up in costume and join in the themed games and competitions. Contact the centre on 0191 267 8118 for more information about this and all of our seasonal special events.
