Facilities, activities and services offered at the Alan Shearer Centre are being showcased in Newcastle this week.

The Centre is featuring as part of a Newcastle City Council event which highlights what facilities are available for youngsters aged up to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities.

The event, being held on Wednesday 4 February at the Banqueting Suite of the Civic Centre, is the launch of the city's Local Offer, a Government initiative designed to let families know what services are available locally and how to access them.

Alan Shearer Centre Manager, Amanda Head along with Jackie Dunn, who manages the Centre's Respite and Specialist Residential facilities will be on hand at the event to answer questions and provide information on what the Alan Shearer Centre has to offer. Recreation coordinator, Tom Parry, will also be there with giveaways and offering some inspiring creative activities to try out.

The event takes place from noon until 4pm and is being promoted by the council as an opportunity for learners, families and professionals. For more information visit the Newcastle Families Information Services website.
