Rain doesn't stop play

Our Alan Shearer Centre Saturday sports day was certainly not spoiled by rain showers!

While it was wet outside we held our games day indoors and had our sports and prize giving undercover and under the supervision of "Head Coach", our recreation coordinator, Tom Parry.

Sporty activities included ten-pin bowling, a team quiz and some improvised tennis ball games.

"When the weather is fine we can do it all again but hold it around the Centre's gardens and grounds," said activities assistant, Yvonne Leonard, who added that despite the rain everyone had great fun anyway.

"We had a lovely afternoon. Tom was great organising the indoor sports day. Food was lovely in the café, and the hour in the lilac sensory room just finished the day off nicely," commented Daniel Rowell and his mum, Sue afterwards.

This weekend bookings are invited for a trip along the yellow brick road to see the Wizard of Oz, as the One Act Productions theatre company makes a return visit to the Alan Shearer Centre on Saturday 16 May. The performance is free, so call us on 0191 267 8118 to find out more and to book places.
