Young Social Entrepreneur 2016 launched

The 2014 winning team from St Thomas More School

The search is on for sixth form students with drive, determination and a passion to make a difference, to take part in St Cuthberts Care's Young Social Entrepreneur 2016.

October sees the launch of the contest where teams are invited to use their many skills and talents to raise as much as they can for the charity from £70 seed money. Over the last 5 years, the competition has raised nearly £60,000 ensuring the therapeutic sensory facilities at the Alan Shearer Centre remain free of charge to disabled children, young people and adults throughout our region.

This year, as well as continuing to support the Alan Shearer Centre, money raised will also help St Cuthberts Care develop and sustain some of our other community projects including our Hardship Fund for elderly people with limited finances assessed for residential care.

As always, St Cuthberts Care will be providing teams with seed money, advice and encouragement and holding an awards ceremony in summer 2016 to announce the winner.

St Thomas More School, Blaydon have proven to be unstoppable winners, picking up the trophy every year since the competition was first launched in 2010; can anyone beat them?!
