Enjoying the gardens at the Alan Shearer Centre

Guests at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre have been making the most of the summery weather through the latest addition to the gardens and grounds.

A new outdoor sensory area has been inspired with input from guests who were asked to help choose an exciting change of design for the garden area at the entrance to the Short Break Centre resulting in inspiring new features created for everyone to enjoy.

An attractive seating area includes a colourful, decorated shelter, wind chimes, with some high raised beds to make gardening activities easily accessible and some giant outdoor games.

"We always like to encourage our guests to get involved in shaping the centre as much as possible," said Short Break Manager, Jackie Dunn. "The new seating area is a fantastic example of their combined creative and practical ideas."

As well as all the events and facilities on their doorstep at the activity centre, short break guests can choose from a summer programme of excursions and trips out including visits to the cinema, local museums and parks or to the coast.
