All change for autumn

Some of our members working on their murals

It's time for a new look in our Alan Shearer Centre's craft room. Members of the Live & Learn group have taken down the decorations they made for their dedicated crafts and cookery room and have chosen a new theme for autumn.

Underneath a decorative “Newcastle” heading, they have created a colourful mural - a combination of real and imagined buildings, with a flock of birds ‘flying' over the letters. On the other side of the room, a large tree has appeared, covered with handmade leaves. The leaves may have started out as the golds and russets of autumn but soon bloomed into a riot of colour.

Recreation assistant, Jan Rootham, who helped with the artwork said, “Everyone has worked very hard and the result is fantastic. It really makes our regulars feel that the room is their own.”

Our Live & Learn skills sessions for adults with learning disabilities are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sessions are completely free and can you can join at any time simply by contacting reception to book your place. Call in or ring 0191 267 8118.
