Short Break guests go al fresco

A picnic on the lawn at the Short Break Centre

The first glimpse of summer has been too much to resist for guests at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre this week.

First it was lunch on the lawn in the shade of the Centre's impressive beech tree, then a quick kick-about with a football in the garden. Not wanting to waste a scrap of the elusive sunshine, our minibus was laid on for a quick trip to the coast and a stroll along the seafront from Whitley Bay to St Mary's lighthouse.

Short Break Manager, Jackie Dunn, said, “We have planned regular outings for our guests throughout the year as part of their breaks, but it's always nice to enjoy our fabulous grounds in the good weather. It was extra special to be able to arrange a trip out at short notice like this, too. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their unexpected seaside jaunt.”
