Having a ball at the Alan Shearer Centre

2 August 2016

All dressed up for the photo booth

The Alan Shearer Centre's Summer Ball was a great hit again this year, with members, staff and carers all letting their hair down for a night of disco and games.

Hot dogs and hamburgers fuelled the fun, followed by a choice of delicious desserts – chocolate gateau, white chocolate profiteroles and tiramisu cake. The cakes were all provided by Jimmy McLaren, husband of Heather, who works at the Activity Centre. Jimmy also generously donated a £20 gift voucher for a meal at Francesco's restaurant in Jesmond. The voucher was raffled to raise funds to buy items for the Centre's Live and Learn skills sessions for adults with learning disabilities, which Heather often leads.

There was also a free raffle for a variety of prizes including jewellery, toiletries, perfume and a watch.

Guests staying at our Short Break facility, which occupies the top floor of the Centre, came down to join the party and to pose in a special photo booth that had been set up in the music room, with a selection of masks and dressing-up items.
