Getting in a spin over windmills

Some of our Alan Shearer Activity Centre members have been getting ”crafty” and helping to brighten the Centre's reception area.

Staff have been helping everyone to bring the outdoors, indoors by decking the place out with a bright, colourful summertime theme. Regulars at our Live and Learn sessions for adults with learning disabilities set the standard with some striking hot air balloon pictures and now another group have added movement to the display with their windmills.

Recreation Assistant, Heather McLaren, demonstrated how to make the windmills and gave everyone a hand to get them looking just right.

“I was great fun,” said Heather, “everyone picked up the technique straight away and we had a wonderful collection of them in no time at all. It really helps to make our regulars feel at home here when they see their handiwork on display.”

Why not pop in to the Centre at 12 o'clock this Saturday and try your hand at making a seaside collage with sand and seashells? Everything you need is provided and it's all free. Call the Activity Centre reception on 0191 267 8118 for more information.
