A feast of treats for Pancake Day

Pancakes are definitely the order of the day today with lots of flipping and filling going on around our services.

Residents at our nursing homes in Newcastle and Sunderland have been remembering times when their families were young and the excitement of making pancakes together.

“It’s been lovely,” said St Catherine’s nursing home resident, Nancy; “a lot more relaxed than when I was a mother of eight trying to keep up with filling plates!”

The most popular topping was lemon juice and sugar and this was the number one choice of our residents at our home in Alnwick, too.

Meanwhile, Thomas and Rachel from our Alan Shearer Centre specialist residential home have been exploring lots of tastes and colours to make their pancakes extra special. Fruit toppings were a favourite, with combinations of banana, maple syrup, diced pineapple, mango and raspberry being a big hit.

Delicious!
