A Fun Day had by all…

May 2013

A chance to sit in a fire engine

A host of butterflies, pirates, puppies and other such magical creations invaded the Alan Shearer Centre this Bank Holiday…

Visitors to the Family Fun Day underwent face painting transformations before being transported to a land of make believe by storyteller Gary Cordingley. As well as all the usual facilities at the centre our visitors enjoyed learning some dance moves in the marquee with Emma Leigh from the Milly Dance Academy.

Fire engine fans had an opportunity to sit in a tender when officers from the Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue Service paid a visit. And everyone who took part in the tombola went home with a prize!

“It’s been a really good day,” said Centre Manager, Jackie Dunn. “It’s great to see some new members paying a visit to the Alan Shearer Centre and welcoming back those who haven’t been for a while.”

The centre is specially designed for children and adults with disabilities to enjoy all its facilities for free.
