Football raffled at Croft Park

19 September 2013

A football signed by Alan Shearer was raffled to raise funds for the soccer star's Foundation at Blyth Spartan's home match, this week.

The raffle at Croft Park raised over £200 for the Alan Shearer Foundation during the home fixture against Ashton United, which saw Spartans come back from one nil down to beat the visitors 2-1.

Foundation volunteer fundraiser, Sarah Croft, asked the football club to hold the raffle during the match on Tuesday as part of her Great North Run fundraising endeavours.

"The guys at the club were great and really happy to help," said Sarah.

The draw was made at half time by the Spartan's centre back, former Republic of Ireland under 21 international and Newcastle United youth and reserve team footballer, Joe Kendrick.
