Alan Shearer faces his toughest golf challenge yet

Alan Shearer

Taking part in one of his favourite pastimes is about to reap huge rewards for the Alan Shearer Foundation as Alan himself prepares to take on a gruelling 18-hole golf challenge.

Alan will be whisked around the country by train, planes and automobiles as he attempts to complete 18 holes of golf on 18 different golf courses around the UK in just one day.  Starting early on Monday at his home course at Close House in Northumberland, he'll end the day on a course more than 300 miles away in East Berkshire!

The charity fund raising event is the brainchild of Feisal Nahaboo, Chief Executive Officer of NGM (Next Generation Money) who will be Alan's opponent on the courses, but an ally in raising sponsorship. Between them, they are hoping their exploits will raise around £20k for the Alan Shearer Foundation.

Alan said, "What a great way to play golf, I can't wait to get started. I've played golf for many years, but never like this! Whilst it will be tough going to make it to all the courses in one day, we will have great fun trying and if I can beat Nahaboo too and raise funds for the Alan Shearer Foundation at the same time, then it will be a fantastic day. Hopefully, we can raise tens of thousands for my charity and I'm proud to be the first to undertake this challenge."

Everyone at the Alan Shearer Foundation wishes him the best of luck!
