Scales and Tails visit

There was more than just a visit from the Easter bunny in store at the Alan Shearer Centre this Bank Holiday Monday.

The popular Scales and Tails travelling zoo made a return trip to the Centre where families with disabled members could view, touch and hold their menagerie of creatures. There were millipedes, spiders, rodents and tortoises to wonder at indoors, while outside visitors made the most of the mild weather to take part in games including an egg hunt and skipping races.

So that the animals weren't overwhelmed, the children were organised into Easter themed groups of chicks, rabbits and lambs and they took it in turns to meet the animals.

Everyone left with their faces painted with the the family fun day proving popular across the generations.

"I am 75-years-old and I enjoyed playing games with the children!" commented Ryan Chan's grandmother, Susan.

"Thank you for a brilliant Easter party," said James Barker's sister, Anna.
