Halloween crafts at the Alan Shearer Centre

Alan Shearer Centre visitors have been getting into the Halloween spirit with some creepy cookie making and devilish decoration designing.

Guests staying at the Short Break Centre have been helping prepare for the spooky season by creating some giant black arachnid adornments while some of our adult Live and Learn visitors have been baking beastly biscuits.

"We've had brilliant Live and Learn sessions with Christine making curry and Fiona making 'creepy cookies'. Very enjoyable and beneficial," said the carers of one of our members, Charlotte. "Also, we've made a lovely group of friends here. Thank you."

The spider decorations and others made this week are being used around the Centre in preparation for our half-term Halloween activities which start this Saturday, 25 October, with a children's party between noon and 2pm.

On Monday 27 October we are hosting a drumming workshop from noon until 2pm when we'll be using recycled materials to make some music, while on Thursday 30 October the fantastic ventriloquist, Eileen, will be performing the Centre with Joe and his friends. Children will be able to meet Joe's girlfriend Mandie, Nip the Dog and Dexter the Dragon at the show which starts at 1pm.

On Friday 31 October we are holding our adults' Halloween disco from 6pm until 9pm and on Saturday 1 November we'll start preparing for the next seasonal event with some arts and crafts with a Guy Fawkes and fireworks theme.

For more information on any of our activities call the Centre on 0191 267 8118 for details and to book your place.
