Short break trip out

Excursions, dining out, movies and pampering are among the extensive choices open to our Alan Shearer Centre Short Break guests as featured in our latest activities programme.

Mini bus trips to Seahouses, Beamish museum or Whitehouse Farm are planned this month alongside rides on public transport to local attractions and even a stroll to the shops for a fish and chips treat.

"The emphasis is on individual choice and preferences, ensuring that all our disabled guests enjoy their stay with us, whether they are children or adults," says manager, Jackie Dunn. "And, naturally, relatives are more relaxed about using our respite facility knowing that that their loved ones are happy and look forward to spending time here."

In addition to the planned activities and trips out the benefits of staying at the Alan Shearer Centre also include the the ability for our guests to make the most of the specialist, on-site sensory rooms, hydrotherapy suite and giant ball pool, as well as having free access to the gardens, woodland walk and play area.

Guests arriving for a break this week can expect to be invited for lunch out in Berwick or a shopping trip to Newcastle, while the half term programme includes a cinema night treat, a trip to Bolam Lake and a Leazes Park picnic.
