The local fire service visits the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre

The fire brigade were called to the Alan Shearer Centre this week – and gave guests a flaming good time!

The local fire service dropped by to see guests staying at our Short Break Centre and gave tours of the fire engine cab before letting everyone have a go at using the fire hose.

The start of the visit by the firemen was delayed due to a real emergency call out, but that didn't dampen anyone's spirits. Everyone had a fantastic time and some vehicles parked at the Centre had a free car wash!

"It's great to have our local Tyne and Wear fire service come and visit us," said Jackie Dunn, Short Break Centre Manager. "Everyone has had great fun and we look forward to welcoming the fire brigade back again in the summer."

Short break guests staying this week have also been enjoying trips out to local attractions including Whitehouse Farm, Beamish Museum and Bolam Lake as well as taking part in the special events on site at the Alan Shearer Activity Centre.
