Residents at St Catherine's have been treated to a live musical celebration of Scottish poet, Robbie Burns, to warm up a January afternoon.

Fifteen musicians from the Semitones group made a return visit to our Newcastle care home at the weekend to perform a concert of Scottish themed melodies, along with their repertoire of classical pieces.

"It was a lovely afternoon of music enjoyed by all the residents," said Richard Dobinson, St Catherine's activities coordinator.

This week Richard will be testing residents on their antipodean knowledge with a quiz remembering Australia Day on 26 January.

Meanwhile, disabled adults using the Alan Shearer Activity Centre also had their own Burns celebration with tunes played by traditional bagpiper, Ian Nelson, and Scottish lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties.
