The fourth Alan Shearer Foundation Ball in support of our Alan Shearer Centre took place on Saturday at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, raising an incredible £210,000.

Hosted by Alan Shearer and his wife, Lainya, guests enjoyed an exclusive set by four-time Brit Award winner, Ed Sheeran as well as a performance by specialist dance troupe, the Black Fire Girls and a stunning solo piece by Hollie Shearer.

Guests from the local business community, including many of the Foundation's corporate supporters, took part in special auctions and raffles and made personal pledges to raise the amazing sum, which will contribute to the cost of running the Alan Shearer Centre.

Speaking at the Ball, St Cuthberts Care Chief Executive, Moira Ashman said, "Our Centre is unique; comprising three distinct disability facilities all under one roof, with our specialist Activity Centre being free to all. Funding from the Foundation has enabled us to transform people's lives and I really can't thank Lainya and Alan enough for their unwavering support. I'm deeply grateful to them both for everything that they do for us."

Alan added: "I'd like to thank everyone that has given their support to my Foundation and helped raise such an incredible sum."

Funding raised by the Foundation has already paid for a number of improvements at the Centre and work to develop a new specialist play area and to extend the hydro pool is currently underway.
