Staff set up a mini vaccination centre in our Alan Shearer Centre to make it is as easy as possible for people living in our adjoining specialist residential home to receive their first Covid vaccine.
Each resident has profound disabilities which makes it difficult for them to understand the vaccination process and why it is important and, for one resident in particular, his vaccination was a landmark achievement.
“Jordan is terrified of needles, so having his vaccine was a huge challenge,” said Alan Shearer Centre manager, Gareth. “With high risk health needs, having the vaccine was vital for Jordan and I’d like to thank our amazing staff team for their support in making sure Jordan was as calm as possible and able to receive his vaccine. He was incredibly brave and, luckily, he’s forgiven me and is still my friend!”
